Play-o-logy's Powerline at Ramsbottom Festival

This September, we have been invited by The Hamilton Project to create an eco installation and workshop at Ramsbottom festival. We designed a powerlines inspired wood installation, together with a windmill making workshop to create this giant interactive installation (see image below).

Participants were asked to draw out what they will missed the most without power. The idea of the installation is to promote sustainable power and educating participant about fossil fuels.

Science sculpture Workshop

We ran a little workshop over the kids weekend at Pickmeup a few weeks ago.  It was a 'science sculpture play-station'  and explored how we can use a limited amount of materials to explain a scientific idea. You pick a card or think of your own nugget of scientific information, take 5 materials for the carefully selected play station boxes and as fast as you can create your sculpture.
Once you are finished you present the sculpture to the play-o-logy team to see if they can guess what it explains.
Have at some of the amazing science explanations from pick me up!

Amazing Journey to the West animation in the 50's

We found this amazing animation of Journey to the West that was made in the 50's.
It is an hour long, the music is fantastic and a little bit like old Disney.
This animation only illustrated the first part of the story,
which mainly talks about Monkey, the main character.
The actual book Journey to the West is very long but also very interesting.
There are quite a few different versions out there and also movies, comics and drama too!
It is definitely Highly Recommended by us.
